JUNE 11 TH. LINDA AND I FISHING

ON MONDAY WE DECIDED TO GO EVEN THOUGH WE HAD OVER CAST SKIES AND WIND. WE GOT TO WHERE WE WERE GOING TO FISH AND THE THUNDER STARTED. THE PROBLEM WAS IT WAS BACK IN THE DIRECTION OF THE BOAT RAMP WHERE WE CAME FROM. WE DECIDED TO WAIT AND HOPE IT WOULD ONLY BE A SHOWER AS CALLED FOR BY THE WEATHER SERVICE.  IT GOT CLOSER AS WE FISHED. WE HATED TO LEAVE AFTER THE FIRST CAST I GOT A NICE RED DRUM OVER 21 INCHES, THAT MAKES IT HARD TO QUIT.  BUT  WE SHOULD HAVE, BECAUSE IT CAME OUR WAY WITH LOTS OF LIGHTING, HEAVY RAIN, WIND  40 MPH. AND SOME SMALL HAIL. WE WER SOAKED BY TIME WE GOT TO THE TRUCK. ONE OF THOSE MORNINGS I GUESS!!   BUSTER

JUNE 8TH. CHARTER

ON FRIDAY I HAD  ROBERT GANT CALL FOR A FISHING TRIP FOR HIS KIDS DOWN FROM COLLEGE. I HAD HALEY, DREW,LOGAN, AND CAMERON OUT TO  DO SOME FISHING. WE STARTED IN THE OCEAN ISLE AREA TO SEE WHAT WAS GOING ON WITH THE FISH. IT WAS SLOW THERE WITH ONLY ONE FISH BEING HOOKED. IT WAS A SMALL ONE THAT HALEY HOOKED THAT GOT OFF NEAR THE BOAT. WE MOVED 6 MILES TO THE WEST AND STARTED AGAIN. WE FOUND A FEW FISH IN THIS AREA. WE CAUGHT 8 FLOUNDER TOTAL, WITH 2 BEING NICE KEEPERS. HALEY GOT BOTH OF THEM AND ENDED UP WITH HER GETTING THE LARGEST ONE OF THE TRIP, A 19 INCHER. I TOLD THE GUYS FIRST THING THAT MORNING IF YOU BRING A GIRL THEY USUALLY OUT FISH YOU, THEY FOUND OUT I WAS RIGHT BY THE END OF THE TRIP. VERY NICE KIDS FROM THE CHARLOTTE AREA AND GOOD WITH THE RODS ALSO.  BUSTER

JUNE 7 TH. CHARTER

ON THURSDAY I HAD TERRY WINDSOR BACK OUT FOR A FLOUNDER TRIP. TERRY HAS WENT WITH ME FOR A FEW YEARS NOW.  TERRY RUNS GUIDE TRIPS UP IN VIRGINIA,  FOR SMALL MOUTH AND MUSKEY,  VERY NICE GUY AND GOOD FISHERMAN.   WE WENT DOWN WEST FOR THIS TRIP.  IT WAS A NICE DAY , BUT A HOT ONE. WE  STARTED EARLY SO WE COULD GET OUT BEFORE IT GOT SO HOT. THE FISH WERE BITING BETTER THAN THE TRIP BEFORE, BUT NOT GREAT. WE FISHED HARD AND SEVERAL PLACES THAT MORNING, AND ENDED UP WITH 9 FLOUNDER, BETTER THAN THE 4 ON MONDAY, BUT NOT GREAT AT ALL. THE ONLY PROBLEM WAS THAT OUT OF THE 9 NONE WERE KEEPING SIZE. SEVERAL WERE OVER 14 1/2 INCHES WITH TWO BEING 1/8 INCH UNDER SIZE. WE HAD A GOOD TIME AS USUAL TALKING FISHING AND HUNTING WHILE WE FISHED HARD FOE THE FLOUNDER. THE WATER IS CLEARING UP MAYBE THINGS WILL PICK UP IN THE SIZE OF THE FISH IN THE NEXT FEW DAYS IF WE DON”T GET ANY RAIN.   BUSTER

JULY 4TH CHARTER

ON MONDAY I HAD TERRY WINDSOR AND A BUDDY OF HIS FLOUNDER FISHING. TERRY HAS BEEN WITH ME SEVERAL TRIPS BEFORE. HE CALLED AND BOOKED 2 TRIPS, ONE ON MONDAY AND THE OTHER ON THURSDAY.  WE WENT ON MONDAY AND IT WAS A NICE DAY, OVERCAST AND A LITTLE WIND BUT  NOT TO MUCH WIND TO DO WELL FISHING.  WE FISHED HARD AND WORKED SEVERAL GOOD SPOTS THAT WE USUALLY CATCH SOME GOOD FISH AT. THE FIRST 30 MINUTES WAS OK WE CAUGHT 2 FLOUNDER AND MISSED A FEW MORE. THEN THEY QUIT BITING, AND I MEAN QUIT. WE FISHED HARD FOR 2 MORE HOURS AND NOTHING. WE WERE GETTING READY TO MAKE A MOVE TO THE EAST AND GOT A LARGE FISH ON. IT HIT LIKE A BIG FLOUNDER, NEVER RAN JUST WENT TO THE BOTTOM AND PULLED TO STAY THERE. WE HAD HIM ON 10 LB. LINE SO COULDN”T TIGHTEN NO MORE ON HIM. WE GOT HIM IN IN ABOUT 15 MINUTES, IT WAS A 20 PLUS LB. STINGRAY. GOOD FIGHT SO WE LET IT GO AND HEADED EAST. WE FISHED THERE THE REST OF THE MORNING AND GOT 2 MORE FLOUNDER NEITHER ONE BEING A KEEPER. VERY SLOW MORNING AS FAR AS FISHING WENT. WE CAUGHT 4 FLOUNDER,  A WHITTING, A CROKER AND A 20 POUND STINGRAY.  WE WILL SEE WHAT TERRY CAN  DO THURSDAY.   BUSTER

JULY 1ST. CHARTER

ON FRIDAY I HAD LOCALS FROM THIS AREA. I HAD GEORGE FAY FROM SUPPLY AND TWO OF HIS FRIENDS TO FLOUNDER FISH. WE LEFT THE DOCK AND GOT MAYBE 100 YARDS AND IT CAME A THUNDER, THE FIRST OF THE MORNING, WE WENT SLOW FOR HALF MILE OR SO AND WATCHED THE SKY , NOTHING ELSE AS FAR AS THUNDER AND IT WAS OFF SHORE. SO WE DECIDED TO GO ON FISHING HOPING IT WOULD GO ON OFFSHORE.  WE FISHED ABOUT 30 MINUTES AND GOT ONE FISH, A KEEPER FLOUNDER BEFORE IT STARTED TO RAIN. THE WEATHER STATION SAID NO RAIN TILL AFTER LUNCH TIME. WE FISHED ON IN THE RAIN THINKING IT WOULD JUST GO OVER. IT WAS COMING FROM THE WEST GOING EAST. IT LET UP A LITTLE AND WE GOT ANOTHER FLOUNDER, IT WAS A RELEASE FISH, BUT THEY WERE STARTING TO BITE.   THEN IT STARTED TO RAIN HARDER AND SOME LIGHTING. THIS WAS WHEN WE CALLED IT AND HEADED FOR THE BOAT LANDING. THE BOTTOM FELL OUT ON THE WAY. WE WERE ALL DROWNING WET WHEN WE GOT  TO THE LANDING. SHORT TRIP.    BUSTER

JUNES FISHING

JUNE WAS A GOOD MONTH FOR THE FLOUNDER FISHING AS IT CHANGER OVER FROM TROUT TO FLOUNDER FINALLY.   IT USUALLY CHANGES OVER IN MAY BUT THIS YEAR WAS A LITTLE LATER FOR THE WATER TOOK LONGER TO WARM. WE  RAN 10 BACKWATER TRIPS AND CAUGHT 105 FLOUNDER FOR THE 10 TRIPS ALONG WITH A MIXED BAG OF A FEW TROUT, WHITING AND RED DRUM. IT LOOKS TO BE A GREAT SEASON FOR FLOUNDER, IF THE RAIN WILL NOT BE SO HEAVY AND THE WATER STAYS FAIRLY CLEAR.   THE MONTHS OF FEBRUARY, APRIL AND MAY  WERE GREAT FOR TROUT  . WE MANAGED TO CATCH 202 SPECKLED TROUT FOR THE 3 MONTHS. HOPE TO SEE YOU ON THE WATER CATCHING FISH SOON.  BUSTER
